Port Dickson

Port Dickson is known throughout Malaysia as a great holiday resort. The beaches of Port Dickson stretches for over 18 km with resorts, restaurants and water-based activities all along the stretch of beach. A favourite among the locals, the beaches of Port Dickson are always visited during weekends and public holidays.

Art and Cultural Complex

Located at the entrance to the Seremban town, near the North-South Expressway, the Arts and Cultural Complex comprises of a Cultural Centre, the State Museum, the Tourist Information Centre and the Top-Spinning Court. The Arts and Cultural Complex with its imposing Minangkabau roof is the venue for traditional Negeri Sembilan arts, music and cultural dance while the state Museum house a wide array of historical artifacts, exhibits and information on the history of Negeri Sembilan. Located nearby are the two examples of Minangkabau houses, one of which is the old Istana Ampang Tinggi or palace.

Lake Gardens

Like every other Malaysian town, Seremban has it own botanical gardens - the Lake Gardens. Well landscaped with two lakes situated among the greenery, the park offers cool respite from the heat. You can catch occasional cultural performances on the floating stage, or check out the bird-watching opportunities at the small aviary on the west side. Stroll to the nearby State Library to enjoy its colonial architectural splendour.

Lukut Fort

A historical building built in 1847, the fort was used to protect its occupants from notorious secret societies that preyed on miners during the height of Negeri Sembilan's tin-mining industry.The fort was fortified with large muzzle loading guns that defended it against attacks from the members of the secret society.


Ulu Bendol Recreational Park

The foremost and most popular forest reserve park in Negeri Sembilan, the park offers visitors a cool green environment amidst forested hills and clear streams. Visitors are also able to participate in activities like mountain climbing, trekking, swimming and picnicking. Accommodations for visitors are available in the form of chalets and cabins.

The Royal Museum of Seri Menanti

Once the residence of the Yang Dipertuan Besar, this old palace has been converted into a royal museum, exhibiting a wide range of royal paraphernalia and regalia. The five-storey high palace was built using hardwood timber in 1902 and no nails or screws were used in the construction. Designed with intricate carvings, the palace has 99 pillars to represent the 99 warriors of the various clans.




How to get here?


Bus Transportation


International visitor can fly in via Kuala Lumpur, or Kota Kinabalu and Kuching in East Malaysia, to Sultan Ismail International Airport Johor Bahru. The airport also links Johor Bahru to Bayan Lepas International Airport in Penang.


Taxis


Johor Bahru is accessible via the North-South Expressway from the north passing through major
town including the capital city Kuala Lumpur.


By Train

Travel by air is possible via Malaysian Airlines (MAS) or the budget people mover Air Asia Airlines. There are flights practically each day between Kuala Lumpur International Airport and Sultan Ahmad Shah Airport in Kuantan. The duration is less than 45 minutes.

MAS offers a more luxurious and comfortable ride but Air Asia has much cheaper rates along with basic trimmings on the plane.

Flights between KLIA and Kuantan may be delayed or turned back due to bad weather. This may happen during the rainy seasons approaching the end of the year.


Ferry Service

There is also a ferry service to Dumai in Sumatra from the Port Dickson jetty. Fares are reasonably priced and can be bought at ticketing agents in Seremban or at Port Dickson.
